The Quilt Study Group of NSW, an activity of the Quilters Guild of NSW, aims ...
'to promote interest and research into quilting, particularly in Australia. Members are committed to the study of quilts past and present with this study encompassing the social and historical context in which the quilts were made as well as designs, techniques and materials used in both vintage and contemporary quilts.'
The Group's next scheduled event is in November. We have done a number of workshops with Lisa Walton, and appreciate her innovative work:

This week's show and tell (mostly) ...

Peggy picked up her beautiful counted cross stitch peacocks
from the framer on the way to quilting this week, so of course we
had to see it- she is such an accomplished needleworker.
Dawn chose a bright contemporary print to pair with some
of the many plaids from our community stash - Susan
sewed the blocks together, and cut off the corner squares
that Dawn then pieced into the border. Quirky and fun.
A milestone for Georgie - her version of Margaret Sampson
George's Jane Pizar  quilt has been declared finished, and
what a masterpiece it is!  All hand stitched, she is having it machine
basted ready for hand quilting with Aurifil Mako 12 wt thread.
Two years' work so far, and worth every minute.
Jill made a quick lap quilt with the left over flannels from
an earlier finish, for her mother, who is feeling the cold this
winter. Flannel backing makes it extra warm.
Pam's bag is not from this week - she made it in Miriam's class
late last year, but has just found the photos in her 'out box'
and sent them on, even though she is travelling in
England and France for several weeks ...
... Pam said the class helped her to really push her fabric selections,
to include 'wilder' fabrics than usual. The result is gorgeous.
We have our monthly community sewing day on thursday, so there might be more ...
